# I Tried to get the Entire Internet on Google Drive
It started, as all bad ideas do, with confidence in a tar file.
It was not even a Google Workspace nor Google
One..
Just with a basic
Gmail (Google in-house Mail).
Not *earned* confidence.
Not *researched* confidence.
The kind of confidence that shows up at **2:39 a.m.** and says:
> *“Yeah. I could back up the internet. How big could it be?”*
Google Drive greeted me politely.
A clean interface.
An empty folder.
A blank stare that said:
> *“You won’t.”*
I named the folder:
**`internet_backup_FINAL_v3_REAL--☪red`**
Because lying to yourself is part of the process --

🕋 I went everywhere.
- Wikipedia
- Reddit *(mistake)*
- That one forum since Firefox 3 where the background is black, the text is neon green, and everyone is still arguing from 2009
- A recipe blog that starts with a childhood trauma before explaining how to boil water
I right-clicked.
I saved locally.
I synced.
Page by page.
Meme by meme.
Ad by ad.
Somewhere around my **400th “Accept Cookies” popup**, I realized:
> This is not a download.
> This is a **pilgrimage**.
The sync icon spun.
It spun like it believed in me at first.
Then slower.
Then **spiritually slower**.
Google Drive began asking questions.
> **“Are you sure?”**
Yes.
> **“Are you *really* sure?”**
I was in too deep to answer honestly.
Files stacked up like snowdrifts:
- `index.html`
- `index(1).html`
- `index_FINAL_REAL_THIS_ONE.html`
Images named things like:
- `banner_1920x1080_v7_NEW.avif`
Videos titled:
- `final_edit_no_really_final.mp4`
My laptop fan sounded like it was trying to escape this plane of existence,
S..so I thought to close it for a moment.
At some point, Google Drive stopped syncing and
Entered what I can only describe as **emotional processing mode**.
No error message.
No warning.
Just vibes.
Then, finally:
> **“Upload failed.”**
No reason.
No explanation.
Just the digital equivalent of Google shrugging and saying:

I stared at my screen.
- The internet, undefeated
- Google Drive, humbled
- Me, changed
Somewhere in front of a

& with a GCP backpack like I was about to keynote the cloud itself,
I realized I had tried to check in the entire internet.
No late checkout.
No room available.
Just sync errors ─ ━ ── ━━ and shame:

Like a raccoon rifling through an endless dumpster of:

I tried harder like it was a belief system..

What the F*$* just happened?
